ESCONDIDO, CA – A repeat DUI offender crashed his pickup truck into a condominium in Escondido, causing the homeowner to incur serious injuries.
The crash occurred on Eveningside Glen at around 7:30 p.m. Thursday. The driver, a convicted DUI offender whose name was not released, is a 23-year-old Temucula man. He was taken into custody following the incident on suspicion of drunken driving. The suspect had one previous DUI conviction.
The motorist had been driving eastbound on Country Club Lane when his vehicle hit a curb, ran over an electrical transformer and then crashed through the back patio of the condo.
There was a 14-year-old girl inside the condo who suffered minor injuries, but her father, who was on the patio, was pinned under the pickup truck and was critically injured. The victim had to be extricated and was then taken to a nearby hospital with a broken leg, a concussion and facial injuries.
Two other family members were inside the condo at the time of the incident and were not injured.
