Woman arrested after leaving scene of DUI crash

LIBERTYVILLE – A Libertyville woman was cited after fleeing the scene of an accident that left two people injured.

The accident occurred in the 1000 block of Milwaukee Avenue on Friday, Feb. 3. Donna A. Garrett, 39, rear-ended a vehicle while making a turn off Milwaukee Avenue at around 9 p.m. Two people were injured as a result; one refused treatment and the other was a 10-month-old child that was taken to Advocate Condell Medical Hospital for a forehead injury above an eye.

Authorities explain that Garrett did not stop at the scene of the accident but was later found at her residence. Police determined she was under the influence of alcohol at the time of the accident and was issued six traffic citations.

Among her charges were driving under the influence of alcohol, failure to reduce speed and causing an accident, and leaving the scene of an accident causing death or injury.

Garrett was taken to Lake County Jail and held on a $10,000 bond.
